Voice Academy is a training company that offers RST – new educational methodology in the area of teaching how to use the voice. Courses can be held worldwide acc. to agreement. RST stands for Resource Speech/Singing Training.

Voice Academy targets all professionals who have a voice.

They are singing teachers, speech therapists, laryngologists, choir leaders, actors, teachers, etc. You must contact the Voice Academy because we know what knowledge you need. We can explain the use of the voice in a very simple way because we understand the substance, both in theory and practice.

Voice Academy has specialized in simplifying the teaching of how to use the voice in a way you and your students / clients can understand. The Voice Academy course gives you an overview of the voice that enhances your capacity to guide and teach others in the use of their voice. You get Voice Academy’s own educational program and materials and learn a simple and comprehensive way to explain the complex structures in a very simple and logical manner.

At Voice Academy, we are highly skilled and at the same time able to use our own voice at a high level, and because we have been very critical regarding the learning process, we have sorted out all irrelevant content and made the relevant and interesting content much more pedagogic. We have researched and developed a unique knowledge and a unique teaching material.

It is singing and speech therapist Hans Toft-Olsen who has developed Voice Academy’s educational methodology. He is also the author of the book “Styr på stemmen” (Control your voice) that is based on the same philosophy. One reviewer wrote:

Voice Academy has laid the old and traditional conceptions about the use of the voice behind it. We wish to be more precise in our teaching methodology and we therefore avoid using traditional voice functions as belting, etc., because they limit the scope. Voice Academy has developed its teaching on the basis of strands:


ENERGY – deals with the breathing and how we control the air pressure. 

VOICE – sits in the throat where our basis sound is formed. 

ARTICULATION – how we transform our basis sound into language, expression and communication.   

BRAIN – we must think the sound before we act. The right sound! 

SURROUNDINGS – adjust your sound to the surroundings. 

For each strand, there are sub-items and when the course is over, you will be able to diagnose a voice so that you know which strand and which point you primarily have to work on in order to optimize the voice. You thereby become more articulate and precise in your pedagogy and criticism of those whom you work with. This applies to both speech and song.


The course is based on the five strands – ENERGY – VOICE – ARTICULATION – BRAIN – SURROUNDINGS. All strands and sub-items are reviewed so you that end up having an educational ballast that you can use with your own students. Reviewing ENERGY – THE VOICE – ARTICULATION – BRAIN – SURROUNDINGS and sub-chapters. By BRAIN we mean thinking. What is it we need to think about when we sing and how do we act according to that in a musical way? There are always exercises that support the examined subject matter. The strand VOICE will get extra attention, for this is also where all sorts of chorus sounds are formed.
We integrate the main points in a both speaking and musical context, so that the content becomes usable in practice. You will become able to hear any imbalance in a voice and you get knowledge on how to work with it. Students will speak and sing, and we give constructive criticism in relation to the examined subject matter. We also get around phrasing, vibrato, effects and styles.

Classes include lectures, exercises and problem-solving, with active participation from the entire team. The participants will get the opportunity to address problems from their own teaching and to discuss and review the reviewed content.

Hans Toft-Olsen is one of Europe’s most experienced voice experts and he has taught, supervised and trained more than 1000 voices. He is a graduate trained singing teacher from the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, and an educated speech therapist with a private practice.

With this special background, Hans Toft-Olsen is used to work with voice problems, sound education, support, communication, performance, and the personal expression at the highest aesthetic level. He has in the past 20 years worked with all kinds of voices, and has, through his unique knowledge and approach to voice, treated and guided voices in business and professional singers and actors. He gives lectures / presentations, Masterclasses, workshops and personal coaching in voice usage and interaction to performers and businesses across Europe.
